You know it's June when the hydrangeas (ajisai in Japanese) are in bloom!
I took a series of photos of these flowers around my neighborhood. Hydrangeas are blooming everywhere in Japan in white, lavender, blue, purple, red, pink and fuchsia colors.
Whenever I see them, I know summer is soon approaching. And it's going to be really hot and humid. But these flowers welcome the rainy season in Japan called TSUYU. So if you are planning of visiting some distant park to see the hydrangeas, always check the weather forecast. If the flower for spring season in Japan is the cherry blossom, the hydrangea is the flower for the rainy season.
